Tezro for sale in the Netherlands (Not mine)

Unread postby Irinikus » Tue Aug 08, 2017 12:48 pm

It isn't in the best cosmetic condition, but it looks like it could be a good machine considering the option cards it has installed including a DCD!

The seller has two machines for sale

For some reason, on the cheaper one he did not show the back side of the machine. Probably it has fewer/none of the cards?

Also, he didn't list the specs on either machine, yet he somehow decided that the other one (with no back side picture) is 450 EUR cheaper.

The second one was 750 euro. It's still on their homepage listed as 750 but if you click on it the more expensive priced comes up.

Both of them are still available, the one with the lower price doesn't have a buy it now option, so you will have to bid on it.

If I were you I would grab one of those machines, as they are rather difficult to acquire and you are located in the Netherlands!

Once you have the machine, then you can worry about getting it up and running, as it's far more difficult to get your hands on one of these machines than it is to source parts for one!

If the plastics need replacing, over time I'm sure that you will be able to source better ones.

I am tempted, but I also worry about the "untested" condition...

Exactly, so i've sent them an email with request for more info. It should simply be a 5 minute effort to hook up a DVI monitor and PS/2 keyboard to go to the command prompt and photograph a 'hinv -v' which is exactly what i've asked them to do. Let's hope for a reply.

I do hope they have a professional attitude and provide the extra information. For that starting price i expect a little bit of service. And promising to ship a 30kg machine with plastic shells all over the world sounds a daunting task and will take quite some time to get it packaged properly (that is a bit of conjecture on my part, apologies).

My Tezro was shipped to me from the US via eBay's Global Shipping Program, and arrived on my side in perfect condition.

All that the seller used to protect the machine was a double walled box with dense blue foam (not styrofoam) lining the top, sides and bottom in such a way that the machine fit in perfectly and could not move, I made sure to ask the seller to mark the package "the right way up". The seller did so and it arrived perfectly on my side!

The Tezro's plastics are definitely not as fragile as those found on most other SGI machines.

You just have to make absolutely sure that the entire weight of the machine does't rest on the door during transport, as that will break! (Mark the package "This Way UP").

Absolutely nothing. 19 hours until the cheaper Tezro ebay auction will expire. We will see what they will do. I hope they will contact me or any of us to discuss matters.

I wish you all good luck, I've got one already so I'm not playing in this game.

Soooo, I noticed that the one that was up for buy it now (nr 1) at 1200,- was also up
for auction on their site, starting bid 751,- required. At some point they closed the item
on Ebay as no longer available. I waited, put in a bid for 751,- ( yes its a gamble but I
figured at that price I would be able to cover part of my losses by selling the bits if needed)
AND...I won! So on Friday I drove down to fetch it and paid 701,- in the end as they had
apparently added 50,- for shipping!

So its here, it's booting, pictures coming!
