Millennium Leeds Liquid Crystal 3-D Viewer

Unread postby FlasBurn » Sat Jul 29, 2017 6:12 am

I´ve got this box and 2 3D glasses with a lot of SGI stuff.

I don´t know if and how it works and if I´ve got all cables needed, but if someone wants it, here is your chance.

For this also applies, if no one wants it, it goes right into the trash.

Edit::

Some pictures ;)

See the maker's address! It's no Vincent Black Shadow, but looks quite flexible, for those trying to do stereo gfx with unusual setups.

Interesting piece of hw, seems incomplete sadly.

https://www.google.com/patents/US5572250

It works with any kind of input, be it a pc, a computer in general, or a video source , up to 120Hz ( I assume one of the knobs is used to regulate the thing to the appropriate refresh rate being used by the monitor ).

Thing is, apparently there's an adapter that's in between the source and the monitor, that intercepts the signal and sends the control data to the box

That patent is by a different company and contains no description whatsoever of the device pictured.
A Google Scholar search reveals articles mentioning it published in 1987, so it was available in the early-to-mid-1980s, before CrystalEyes really got going. Obviously, if it is cited in a CrystalEyes patent, it cannot itself have any of the technology claimed in the patent.

It may support 120 Hz, but the "mains lock" mode and 220VAC mains imply it normally runs at 100 Hz. The photo sensor modes indicate that it can use photodiodes to synchronize with mechanical systems, like film projectors.

As nobody wants it, it will go into trash.

Is it free? I might be interested if shipping isn't crazy.
