[not mine] Dutch lot of SGI PC's

Unread postby dexter1 » Wed Jul 26, 2017 2:14 am

This might be interesting for some:

Looks like three SGI 320 and two 230/330 and a silver model marked "wave" which i can't find right now. Possibly one of the final xeon workstation models.

That's a Cooler Master Wave Master case, probably a generic PC.

To accentuate the special identity of the IRIS 4D/70, Silicon Graphics' designers selected a new color palette. The machine's coating blends dark grey, raspberry and beige colors into a pleasing harmony. (IRIS 4D/70 Superworkstation Technical Report)

o.0

I'm a bit rusty on my non-existent Dutch. But I think thats 5 x 320's (and 5 x 5021, one per 320 :D), and a single 330 (linux 'L' added for value).

Old 5021's too. The 5411 was 4:3 screen of choice imo ... lose the barrel distortion, it's not worth the headfu*k anymore.

Ok, So I couldn't resist taking a look and so today I took one of the 320's.
Turns out to be a dual cpu box with 1 gig ram and scsci addon card.
Not too many bad scuffs.

So there a few more 320's left, likely single cpu boxes. Minor issues with the rtc being out of battery. Popped a new one in mine.

He used to run Maya and he is selling licenses & dongles for 50,- asking price.
And there is the 330 but that's really just a PC...

Nice One, that looks like to be a nicely specked machine (Dual CPU, SCSI setup and all)!

These are really cool machines!

I don't know of any late Xeon SGI that looked like the "WAVE" machine. I think the last thing they made was the Virtu with BoXX, and they went out of business VERY shortly after that. I can't imagine they had time to make another generic PC, especially since spec wise it wouldn't have been any better than the Virtu they were already selling, which was top of the line parts in 2009. So I think Jan-Jaap is right, probably just a PC that got in the picture by mistake.
