A sad moment but has to be done.....

Unread postby tesla » Sun Jan 01, 2017 12:39 pm

Hello all!

Well, it's come to that point for me. I have to let go of my collection due to time and space. What's in the collection you say? It's all of the little icons below plus CRT's and a bunch of other spare parts and whatnot. As it is A LOT of stuff I can't ship it, so collection only.
Which of course narrows it down to a few enthusiasts.

This is for all the SGI's and the SS20's.

Worth menioning is that about half the collection is from deBug's former collection wich I and Bjornl divided between us in 2012.

I'm asking 5000:- (SEK) to at least recover a fragment on what I spent on this. Should cover the gas bill I spent criss-crossing Sweden picking up stuff.

Please feel free to ask questions and contact me if you're interested. I wish for this to go to someone who can take care of it rather than do the almost unthinkable.....you know, computer heaven.

Oh, and BTW I also have a Cisco Catalyst 4507R for sale, 2000:- (SEK) This rack switch includes:
- Dual 1000W PSU's (I only have one power cable but it should be a breeze to find another one)
- 2x Supervisor IV engines (WS-X4515)
- 2x 1000 BASE-X modules with 2MM and 2SM GBIC's (WS-X4306-GB)
- 2x 1000 BASE-FX 48 Port Ethernet modules (WS-X4448-GB-RJ45)

May you all have a great 2017.

Common that's alot of hardware to go in the recycling. Surely someone over there can get it?

There's some seriously interesting stuff in there, I hope someone near there can take it. Maybe it's close enough to some of the other European nekochanners to make shipping individual systems possible?

Edit: Posting to reddit. I can't take these machines myself, but I really hope someone else can. I could also do a quick YouTube video on my channel if it would help.

Man, there are a lot of really good stuff. Sure you won't ship some of these individually (within Europe)? I am sure there are a lot of people here, me included, who would buy a few of these systems/spares, but I can understand that you want to get rid of it all at once. Would be a real shame to have it recycled.

Yes, I rather not do it but I've thought long and hard and as things are right now it has to go. And, yes, I want all of it to go in one sweep.
I'm located in the south of Sweden, about 25km's NE of Helsingborg.

Right now I'm dealing with a member here on the forum (kokoboi in Bulgaria) who's willing to take the whole lot. If this deal for some reason should go south I'll post again.

If other members are interested in this stuff, I'm willing to go collect the stuff to Sweden and then ship it from Czech Republic.

Well, I would be certainly interested, but let's see how others respond.

Hi all.

While doing some research into palletizing the stuff for pickup by some freight company, I came to the conclusion that it's just not feasible. I simply have no good way to do the palletizing indoors. I have the space outdoors but that's just no good considering it's winter now. I can do it under roof in my carport but I fear some electronics will just not survive the day to night temperature differences, condensation and so on.

So, the lot is up for grabs to anyone who can come here and pick it up in person.

If some of this makes to the Czech Republic I'd love to finally get my first SGI. It would look lovely next to my intellistation 285.

Is anyone brave enough to ferry the lot? Since it's on the tip of the Scandinavian peninsula, I don't think there's a better option to get it to mainland Europe. I quickly checked the Świnoujście-Ystad ferry and transporting cargo, beside being pricey, needs some additional paperwork, and, above all, getting a van there (tricky since it's winter). I'm not experienced enough in logistics to do it myself, but if someone gets it to the other side, I can meet in western Poland or even eastern Germany, take some of the lot (as much as I can fit into an 20 year old Audi A4) and participate in the costs proportionally.

Have you contacted jmc regarding his V12 Octane2?

Hi!

@toxygen:
If you or someone could organize the transport to Czech Republic i would be very interested at least in the Onyx RE2, very likely in others too! I could collect it in Czech Republic for myself, if it's not too far in the east...
(I'm lurking for a deskside-Onyx1 for a long time, but transport from Sweden to Bavaria is too far for me...)

Off topic but I don't have a monstrous collection for fear of ending up in the exact same boat. Life circumstances-wise, even if I end up having to live on a plank under the Interstate I know I'll be able to keep my Tezro and my Octane2 with me. So count your blessings people, there but for the grace of God go we...

World domination! Or something...
