Selling My Collection? [US]

Unread postby RageX » Thu Jan 22, 2009 10:44 pm

Hi Guys,

I've been off the scene for a long time and it's because I've switched my attention to motorcycles. Anyway I'm thinking of selling off my entire collection. But since I've been off the road for a while I'm not sure what the going rate is for these old systems anymore. So I figured I'd list the most interesting things I have and see if any offers are high enough for me to sell / part out the units:

Here's what I have off the top of my head (most of these are in storage upstate so I don't have them handy to check on):

1. Onyx2 deskside, 99% perfect skins, old logo, 4 R12000 @ 400MHz, 8GB RAM (1 bank not reporting, might be a dusty connector), loaded with directory RAM (pointless I know), IR2E (GE16, RM9, DG5-2), 2 fibre cards, 1 4-channel SCSI card DVD-ROM, 3-drives (I forget the sizses) and a full router (it works!). Comes with IRIX 6.5.something disks.

2. Octane2, brand-new 100% skins, bought from SGI through their warehouse sale. 600MHz R14000, 1GB RAM, 18GB drive, V12 graphics. God-damn-stunning, doesn't even have finger prints on it. Comes with IRIX 6.5.30 disks and MIPSpro compilers. Lock bar too!

The following Indy's I'm kinda fuzzy on, gotta open them up and see I guess. Most of them come with decent drives, and I think almost every one has 256MB RAM, and every one has a floptical drive too (it always annoyed me if there was a slot in the chassis and no drive sitting there behind the slot). Oh and all the Indy's are 9/10 cosmetically. I think one I would describe as a 10/10 but I can't remember which one.

4. Indy with dual head card, R5000 180Mhz, 160MB RAM, one card is an XL8, the other is an XL24. Very rare. Sony PSU, floptical. Perfect skins. Oh, it comes with an IndyBag. Web cam, cables, granite keyboard & mouse.

5. Indy with CosmoCompression & IndyVideo, R5000 180Mhz, 256MB RAM, 9GB SCSI disk, floptical. Oh, it comes with an IndyBag. Web cam, cables, granite keyboard & mouse.

6. Indy with XZ graphics, R5000 @ 150Mhz, 128MB RAM, in an IndyBag. Web cam, cables, granite keyboard & mouse. Indy Presenter (just the screen, no adapter card).

7. Indigo, R4400 @ 150MHz, 2 hard disks, floppy disk. Elan graphics. Max memory, 384MB I think. Chassis is 8/10. Comes with the special keyboard (one beige one granite), keyboard cable & mouse.

8. Indigo2, teal case, R10000 @ 195Mhz, 512MB, MaxIMPACT Graphics with Texture Modules, IMPACTCompression (tested & working!), 12X CD-ROM, 2 hard disks. It has a lock bar.

9 Indigo2, teal case, R10000 @ 195MHz, 768MB, HighIMPACT & SolidIMPACT, 100Mb Ethernet Card, 2X cartridge load CD-ROM, hard disks ... boy this is getting fuzzy. It has a lock bar.

10. O2 mother board with R12000 @ 400Mhz, 256MB RAM? Pulled from a good system with a cracked chassis. I have the AV module and drive+sled and the PSU too, and also the CD-ROM with bezel, just needs a chassis.

11. Challenge S, R5000 180Mhz, loads of RAM, 2 drives.

There are a few other Indy's floating around, nothing special. Also I have a SUN IPX box, unsure of the specs. I probably have every cable known to man, including those really nice Apple Newton mDIN5 cables that you can use as a null modem serial cable between Indy's. I also have an external granite CD-ROM (12x?) and a plain beige external SCSI CD-ROM (32x I think), both Toshiba models. I have an Indy Presenter that's maybe a 7/10 cosmetically, never been tested.

Everything is loaded with IRIX, most things have IRIX 6.5.22 on 'em.

The Onyx2 & Octane 2 are sitting in New York City. Everything else is in Upstate NY.

This listing is all to the best of my memory. Let me know if anything interests you and I can dust that system off and get more specific with you. And to prove I'm not bullshitting here are the photos I was able to dig up of this gear (not everything mentioned is photographed):

That's a nice hardwood floor you have there. Don't you worry about scratching it up rolling around all that stuff on it ?

I'm interested in the onyx but I think shipping would cost more than the machine - what are you asking for it?

Generally speaking, only resellers have the facilities to ship anything over 70lbs. Shipping anything as large as an Onyx2 isn't possible unless you have access to pallets, pallet banding straps, etc., and LTL shipping accounts. Sure, it could be sent by UPS, but you wouldn't like the condition it arrives in.

Big iron is pretty much something you have to be willing to go pick up yourself...

I should add to my first post: Please make offers.

I suppose my first post wasn't clear enough. If you've emailed me you know very well that I'm very busy because I probably took a long time to get back to you.

If you sent me something without a dollar sign in the body I just deleted it. Sorry but I don't have time to respond to that many inquiries.

The few people that did make an offer made offers that were (I think) very very low. So as of right now, nothing has sold.

I suppose the idea is to offer me a number that will motivate me to get up off my fat lazy ass (fat and lazy because I'm tired after I come home from a long day at work!) and box up a system to send you.

I would think that most of the gear listed here should be in the 3-digit range or higher. For example:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0328607067

Wrap a max-spec indy around that with all the trimmings and throw it in an IndyBag and that's what I have. Now we're talking!

For shipping/logistics, the Onyx2 and Octane2 are located in the 11105 zip, and everything else is in the 14469 zip.

So I'm still open to considering any offers anyone may have.
