have a look at this:
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&&item=110044732051
these are the ones that can make a RM5271 O2 a 600MHz RM7000 machine.

(just in case someone wants to know)

Pretty cool. It'd be nice to see someone buy them, make some O2 compatible 600MHz cards and resell them.

Aren't the 300/350MHz processor cards harder to find than the actual 600MHz processors?

Actually, there is no such thing (and has never been) as a 600MHz R7000 O2...
But: anyone who can trade in a RM5271 CPU module will get one in return,
since in the mean time I became the "lucky" high bidder on that auction 8-).

Congrats to the new CPUs !
So you will do a new batch of upgrades now I guess?

I bought a R5200 300MHz with the correct blue wire at the volt regulator so I could have it modified to 600MHz but then I found a 600MHz module on Ebay for the same price that the conversion would cost and bought it.
I have been happy with my O2 but always thought to be a bit to slow even at 600MHz.
But today I plugged in the 300MHz to test before selling it, and my god! At 300MHz it is like moving in quicksand glued to a safe in slow motion slow!!
I cant understand how I could run the O2 with 200MHz R5000 and 300 R5200 for several years!
How quickly on forgets.

My fuel has definitely spoiled me 8-)

Definitely sign me up on that action, if it's a go... have the correct 300 MHz module with the blue wire...

I have a 300MHz R5200, but I've no idea whether there's a blue wire or not... is this a deal-breaker?

I have a 300MHz r5200 module with blue wire as well. I'm also interested in a 600MHz conversion.

What timeframe do you have in mind for delivery?

Have a look at it: the voltage regulator is housed in a TO-220 package (See below).

Maybe it works with other PCB versions, but two modules without the blue patch wire I had reworked years ago showed up not to boot into IRIX afterwards though all tests from the PROM monitor ran through error-free. I guess it might have been mere coincidence, but I don´t want to find out that it is the other way and mess up another rare CPU module.

Please look here: http://www.in4tec-mbh.com/O2@600/gallery.html

To anyone with real deep (SGI) hardware knowledge and adjacent test equipment:
I´ll gladly send you one of these modules for free to find out what´s the matter :-)

About the time frame: three modules get reworked next week, one of which is sold already, another one i wanted to keep myself.
But I´m as well willing to ship it - on the condition that I get the trade-in RM5271 module later (otherwise the chain gets broken).

Ah, now for the vermouth drop (does one use that phrase in english at all?): Material, Soldering, X-Ray and Shipment still totals to 250 Euro.
It is unlikely that this will change because tere are no hordes of O2-owners who trade in their modules by the dozen.
If still interested please pm me and I´ll gladly tell you my PayPal accredited email address.

Cheers

I'll post a note on my blog that you're gearing up for another production run.

I'd probably be game to try to fix one. The original module Chicago Joe did a while back was of the 'non patch-wire' style and it worked OK. PM me...

Glad someone bought them to remove my temptation. The wife would have killed me. :D

Besides, he has the SPROMs--I don't.

But I still have three of the right modules.

LOL, I think there were two lots of them...

correction: selling the 500 MHz version in singles now

eBay: RM7000B-500T

@MisterDNA,
Nice to see you back! I had PM'ed you about that O2 RAM last year (and send paypal payment for it) but you didn't seem to get it. Perhaps you could contact me via PM?

Looks like they're over in ALtamonte Springs ( a couple hours east of me)

What O2 mainboard would these be compatible with? IIRC I have an O2 400 R1200 and a 300 R5000 (not a R5200)

On another note:

I'm still interested in a 600 O2 now that I have been able to pick up a few other nice things lately.

Would like to get in line for one of ed's but don't have the required cpu to provide

Richard
