You pay shiping, you can have this stuff

Unread postby jason16384 » Mon Jul 09, 2007 10:20 am

We're getting rid of a whole bunch of SGIs that are in use or in storage where I work. They are destined for the junk pile, so if you pay for shipping you can have any of this stuff. If you want specific parts you can have those too.

I don't know when I'll actually be able to send this stuff out, but I know we will be getting rid of these systems in the next month or two so I thought I'd check and see if anyone is interested before it's too late.

Here's what I've got.

Around 6-8 Indys.
An Indigo2. (claimed by one person, another in line if that falls through)
A dead Indigo2. (for parts)
2 dead Octanes. (for parts)
10-15 working Octanes (R10000)
Lots of Octane speakers (plug into and powered by Octane systems)
Lots of little black microphones (not sure what they went to originally... something SGI I think)
Several 4 gig SCA HDs.
10-15 O2s (most cdrom drives do not work)

I've had a strong response for systems and more info. I'm currently waiting on usable boxes to send this stuff in. I expected to have some by now, but the people I get them from didn't unbox anything this week. I'm hoping this next week they will unbox some things and I can get shipping quotes together. (7/21/2007) Thanks for your patience.

More Detailed Info
Octanes
Single Processor Only
R10000
200-225 Mhz

O2s
Around 200 Mhz (nothing near 300 Mhz)

I can throw a fresh install of basic Irix on these systems or wipe them before sending.
If you want more specific info post a follow up and I'll update the information accordingly.

I will box up whatever is requested, get a shipping quote, and then can be paid through PayPal. If for some reason that doesn't work for you, PM me and I'll see if we can work something out.

If you're near Minnesota and would rather do a pickup instead of shipping that can be arranged.

In case you want to know how much shipping would be to you from me, I'm in zip code 56321 or 56387 (essentially the same...) in the USA. I will probably ship everything via the US Postal Service since it appears to be much cheaper for international shipments and is usually competitive for domestic shipments. If you want shipping via another service let me know. There are shipping charts available at usps.com. Here is the link for the international chart:
http://pe.usps.com/text/Imm/immctry.14.1.htm

I'll see if I can get some approximate weights for items that have been asked about so far.

I'd be interested in an O2 if they're >=200MHz.

Edit- wiped the nonsense.

Take a look at this chart for Canada shipping options:
http://pe.usps.com/text/Imm/ce.16.3.htm#ep2041503

First class mail is dirt cheap....

One set of speakers packaged up would probably be 3 or so lbs.

O2 CPU specs would be helpful, ie 300Mhz or faster, as well as any dual Octane CPUs? Indys - any XZ graphics or R5K cpus?

Just a heads up, if I haven't responded to your PM or forum post yet I just want you to know I haven't ignored you.

I've been tabulating all the requests for SGIs. I'm going to see if I can get a couple of them boxed up so I can get some shipping weights figured since mostly what people are interested in is how much shipping will cost.

For those who want specific things (graphics boards, processor speeds, etc) I will need to look into those. Most of my non-Octane systems are in storage so I can't immediately check them.

It will probably be at the very minimum a week before I can send anything out besides speakers/microphones. I'm hoping I can part with most of the systems in the next couple of weeks, but I can't guarantee that.

Estimated weights for at least the O2s and Octanes would be: O2 System (typical box weight 16kg) and Octane System (combined weight 36kg). These have been extracted from Ian's SGI Depot site (http://www.futuretech.blinkenlights.nl/ ... pping.html).
