Sorry. No shipping to Europe due shipping volume/insurance.

1920x1200 @ 72Hz must really hurt at this size!
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice...

Probably not - when it crashed through the concrete floor and down a few meters into the ground you won't be able to see a thing.

Cheers,

I get on quite well. I have an older granite 24" GDM-90W11 and a newer charcoal 21" GDM-5021PT. I run 1920x1200 and 1600x1200 (3520x1200 combined) and I don't think I'd ever want to go to a config with fewer pixels.

I'm working on getting one of these newer 24" GDM-FW9011 monitors and a DG5-8 so I can can run 3 screens (5440x1200)!

nah... some people just dont want to complicate their day a lil more... but there are always ways to get over this. There is always a friend in the US, or a company that stores stuff for you, and then in a big package sends it to you, lowering the costs. (the method i use so far)

That sounds interesting to say the least, but do you actually mean anyone can access to that kind of services?.

BTW, I am not interesting on this SONY, so anyone feel free to elaborate on it.
It happens that now and then I find a interesting deal on a Apple Display but I always stumble with the same 'I don't want to mess with overseas folks' motto, which obviously becomes frustrating.

yup... the company i use is somehow local (Uruguay based), it can manage packages in most places of the planet using other "partner" companies.
Best way to go is asking a shipping/logistics company for this kind of service. Many companies arrange themselves pick ups. Iirc, many UPS stores did this too, you just can pay by credit card over the phone directly to the UPS store and ask them to go pick up the stuff, pack it, and send to your address. That should work if seller accepts shipping arranged by you.

One of the companies that worked as a partner was Geologistics. And as a side note i recommend BAX global for heavy stuff, maybe they have some special services too, don't know

Some people just don't want to deal with the headache. However the monitor is already overpriced by at least $500 (you can get the identical monitor in sony clothes for around $300, granted is refurbished... but those monitors were all manufactured a few years ago).

http://cgi.ebay.com/24-SONY-HP-GDM-FW90 ... dZViewItem

Shipping that thing over to Europe would set you back a few hundred $$$ (I had to ship a laptop to my brother over there and it cost me almost $200, so I don't even want to think what that behemoth will cost).

Once you put together the cost that monitor is going for + shipping charges, you can buy a nice 24" LCD... and 27" are hitting the $1K mark (at least over here in the good ole US of A). Deskspace and reduced electric bills are more important to me than multisync or stereo, so your mileage may vary obviously.

I have a photo somewhere of a Liebherr L-301 being forklifted into a 747. The L-301 weighs about 14,500 lbs.

I don't even wanna know.

I understand… I can eat my words thought… I had sent a PowerBook from Spain to a good friend in Germany and it arrived today severely damaged -"broken beyond usability" as my friend described it-, and THIS was between two European countries… not even overseas involved.

Pro/ENGINEER. Lots of web browsing. I watch joost (anyone need an invite?) on one monitor sometime while I do work on the other. I have my Octane2 on the 21" monitor and my Onyx2 and IBM display on both (and synergy leaves me with just one keyboard and mouse!). I just figured I couldn't add another 24", it would push the Onyx to over 300Mpixles/s. I could do 2x1920x1200@60Hz though?... need to read more about the hardware (there's several bandwidth limitations ... DAC, framebuffer, transmission), does adding RM's increase the number of pixels available for display?

Don't need to worry about this right away, but later this month if my wheeling and dealing works i'll have the same sort of monitor from the auction, nearly new, for $50 and a taxis fare to pick it up. :D
