Yup, if it was over here I'd definitely buy it.

"Symbolabbildung" , "Gehäuse hat Gebrauchsspuren/Kratzer" (symbolic picture, case is scratched)

I'd say an on-site inspection would be a good idea if you're going for this as an SGI collector, because I have the feeling this one received the typical "ex lease" treatment

To accentuate the special identity of the IRIS 4D/70, Silicon Graphics' designers selected a new color palette. The machine's coating blends dark grey, raspberry and beige colors into a pleasing harmony. (IRIS 4D/70 Superworkstation Technical Report)

The same ebay seller added an auction with a dual cpu Tezro (2x 700, 6GB RAM). Price about 500 EUR less than the quad Tezro.
What about the noise level of the Tezro in comparison to the Octane?
Maybe you need a new desk for the Tezro.
Just realized that the Tezro is nerly as big as 2 Octanes together.
A very representative workstation.
Tempting but not exactly cheap ;)

Ask SGI :P Oh wait, forget that. Their China office never even heard of Irix ... there are two different stories with Fuels - 6.5.14 or 6.5.17. Tezro should be somewhere in that area ... or check the release notes for every Irix version.

China ? Hmm well, too long to walk to there ;-)

luckily I found a reference to a sgi document that stated that the tezro was introduced with irix 6.5.20 (I remembered that there was quite some time between the fuel and tezro).

Not sure yet. It would only serve as a build machine, we are maintaining an in-house software for a customer that is still deployed on irix too ...

after all I think a deskside onyx would look better ;-)

I'd hit it. "It" is left as an exercise to the reader.

I like how the monitor is angled towards the camera compared to the monitor on the octane next to her.

This seller added just another Tezro (2x R16k 700Mhz/ 8GB RAM/V12).
Now three Tezros are available in the ebay shop.
