Custom VFOs

Unread postby praetor242 » Fri Dec 15, 2017 4:07 pm

I have a Dell E1909W monitor connected up to my Octane whose native resolution is 1440x900@60Mhz, and used these (http://forums.nekochan.net/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16725755&hilit=1440x900#p7343589 VOF files, and they work, except there is the occasional glitching and flickering, which is kinda driving me nuts. The one I'm using is well below the pixel clock bug in the V6, so not sure why its glitching. I plan on getting a 1600x1200 display, but this is what I have for the moment :\

I've searched around with no real concise guidance, but how do I create a custom vof for this monitor?

Thanks :D

P.S; It's also worth noting I'm using the same files on my O2, which work fine. Apples and Oranges I know.
:O2: - trajan - R5000 180Mhz - 256 MB RAM - 300GB HDD
:O2: - hadrian - R5000 180Mhz - 128 MB RAM - 147 GB HDD
:Octane2: - augustus - R12000 400Mhz - 512 MB RAM - 300GB HDD - VPro6

The link and guide in the link below is a very useful starter.

This is also a good thread.

Best thing to do is to start by getting the EDID for your specific monitor, there are numerous guides on how to do this, I used SwitchResX on my Mac.

You can then use this information to create a .vfs file which serves as the input for using the vfc command to create a .vfo file.

The O2 and VPro use different chip/board set definitions, this *may* be why the display is acting slightly weirdly. There have been reports of earlier VPro (v6 and v8) artifacting with pixel clocks close to the lower 109Mhz limit.
:Octane: wip build - Currently 2xR10000 250Mhz, 640MB RAM, SSI graphics, 18GB 10K RPM HDD. Lucent and HD fan mod.
