Just got done transplanting the original Quad 500mhz R14000 motherboard in my O300 in favor of a Quad 600mhz R14000A motherboard.

Pretty painless transplant, had to go out to Home Depot for an additional Torx bit for the Numalink Torx screw on the back, but other than that you might need some needle-nose pliers to get the ATXish power connections unlatched too.

Glad to hear the swap went well.

What's the difference between the R14000 and the R14000A? Just double the cache and a speed bump?

I believe those are the only differences, I could be wrong though.

R14k -> R14kA is an optical shrink and speed bump. The cache boost is SGI's computer designers and could have been done on the R14k.
