Hi all I wanted to ask a question I read the post and the wiki page on how to test graphical onyx2 one thing, and I do not 'clear ie' if I do this test in the window irix winterm I stop the gfx with the command:
Code:
/usr/gfx/stopgfx

Here's my question once I stop the gfx part of the test but then I use a command to restart it, or e 'automatically restart once it finishes the test?
I would like to avoid running out of videos omitting some command line, if someone can 'and confirm that only' fair use only the stop I would be grateful, thanks.
Then one more question: the better from the terminal or irix to get tested?. :)

I am pretty sure you need to use /usr/gfx/startgfx to restart the graphics, there is a slim chance it might restart the graphics automatically, or there could be an option. I can check it out later if nobody else confirms this. (and update the wiki page as well ;) )

It's best to run 'irsaudit' through a serial connection. This will allow you to capture the results also.

You have to stop the X-Windows system first (/usr/gfx/stopgfx), and irsaudit will switch off the 'glass' console entirely, so if you don't run though a serial connection you won't see the end result.

When you're done, you have to start the X-Window system again (/usr/gfx/startgfx)

Common wisdom says you have to run 'irsaudit' a couple of times ('irsaudit REPEAT=5') although I couldn't tell you exactly how much extra confidence this gives.

Hi,Pymblesoftware, I just wanted to say that maybe it was better back on the wiki page, since it must also distribute your video card does not seem to have said something wrong, I read the page, but I had these doubts for which I asked here on the forum how to proceed, I did not want to support something else, without wishing to offend anyone in any case, it was just my observation and not only mine, I did not really understand how to do maybe I just do not understand well, without a doubt are inexperienced in comparison to many users, but there are others like me that maybe they need more 'details, I think it's a bit' as well as reduced the explanation I read, for example, do not 'written and better use the terminal(for the final report of the test.), do not' written that after the test should be repeated, do not 'written at the end you must enter the command usr / gfx / startgfx.Tell me what you think, I may be wrong but I do know that when you do a guide for all newbies who has experienced otherwise, and 'a very useful guide to the vast majority of those who use a guide is not supposed to know much the argument, right? :)

Sorry. I think I misunderstand something somewhere.
Anyone can get an account and update the wiki to correct things if there is something wrong with a topic.

Hi Pymblesoftware,no problem for me, I just wanted to tell me that I look good for you to understand what I mean, English is not my mother tongue and do a little 'Difficulty' in a correct syntax to write, my intention was not to mean that might get someone with no video output but only a way of saying I saw that I already have 'happened in all colors and with the sw that with the hardware, I'd be the last to be able to edit the page in question, if you want to do maybe you can add these details that I think are very important for everyone, thanks for understanding, regards. ;)

Regan does a yeoman's job of MFIC-ing the nekowiki. He shouldn't have to do all the heavy lifting and defend stuff somebody else wrote, so I'll take the hit for any shortcomings in the irsaudit nekowiki (I wrote it).

I don't think gambonyx's post came across as he intended (if this forum was in Italian I know I the replies to anything I tried to post would be along the lines of WTF??), but he does have a point. The wiki mentions the need to stop the xserver, and never mentions a restart. While I might have assumed that restarting the xserver was obvious, it might not have been so obvious when I had my initial exposure to IRIX. I'll edit the wiki and correct that omission.

Hi recondas, thanks for having made the change, the process now and very clear.
Same thing for having understood the point I mentioned.
I can not say the same for what you have written in brackets (WTF) I do not think deserve similar responses, even in an Italian forum (not 'think they are all so precise in Italy forums, although maybe someone uses vulgarity' ) if so no one would have given the answers (see above) but they are points of view, I also accept those different from mine, but 'I do not think is correct in this topic, also because' I have always used language to the maximum kindness that I have are only my observations should also accept them for who they are. :(

I was trying for a little self-deprecating humor (that means the joke would be on me), the less than obvious implication was that you are doing much better with English than I would with Italian. What is now obvious to me is that even humor can get lost in translation. Sorry for the unintended offense, I'll be much more discriminating with any future responses.
