Unsure what colour mine is Ian, but I'll check when I get home.

Ian, mine is green and it works.. I say works, it's recognized, but I haven't actually done anything with it yet and it doesn't work with any discreet stuff so far.

Just to clarify, so your kind is the green type but it's not an SGI original? ie. no 013 sticker? If so, and it's recognised, then I expect it'll be ok. I'm guessing Discreet sw can't use it because Flame/Smoke doesn't use OpenML bits (so I figure).

Just to confirm then, mine is not an OEM with no 013 sticker.

If it's not an SGI card, what markings does it have instead, if any?

According to one of sgi's notorious internal pricing guidelines (located here) the US asking price for the DM6 in 2006 was 5,600 dollars...

cnet has one of their usual inadequate little technical tidbits about it here.

I wouldn't ask that much..

Unfortunately Ian, the PSU has gone like a Monty Python parrot. I have had it apart but forgot to get the card out and take details, and the whole machine is now ready for shipment to work in the back of my car.

I will take pics of both sides of the card on Monday.

WOW that's quite a pricy piece of hardware!

If that's a decent price, then I would hate to see a not so decent price!

Just being facetious. :D

UUNIX, If this is a fair price for this card and you still have yours, the you can sell it to fund your TEZRO! :D

After looking around and seeing what people ask for this card, it's a reasonable price!

I was the guilty buyer; it's already away in a system to be used in industrial process control.

I still don't have a way of testing them though. What was SGI thinking??

Hey Irinikus, started that book yet? :D

Hi Ian, I haven't been home yet, as I now live and work in Pretoria, and only seldom make it down to Cape Town (where all of my SGI gear resides), but I might go down to Cape Town next week on the 28th, so I will let you know as soon as I have it in hand. :D

Just a stupid question but would a DM-3 with a VBOB+DM-5 add on card, fitted to a Tezro not be able to carry out the same or similar function to the DM-6, as it's allot cheaper?

Very different, the whole DM3/5/etc. stuff is HD, DM6 is only SD. In terms of cost, the demand is from corps who are using them for specific functions, so it's not like they can swap it out. PCB scanning is one example.
