Removing the Fuel graphics module...

Unread postby mapesdhs » Fri Nov 09, 2007 5:18 am

Recently I helped someone replace their Fuel graphics module. To my surprise the Fuel
Owners Guide doesn't explain how to do this, so I've written a simple guide:

Hope it proves useful! :)

Thanks! I just bought a Fuel w/ V10 that i'll be upgrading to V12 immediatley.

The procedure seems simple enough even for a cludge like me :)

I guess it seems intimidating because of the more PC-type case design, but it's
actually pretty easy.

Yikes! I didn't realise that there was a screw *under* the machine... and I've just changed a V10 for a V12!

I guess, then, that the previous owner didn't realise this either :)

Yeah, I'm not sure if SGI actually utilized that screw position in all Fuels or not - so far I've seen one Fuel that had it and one that didn't. But it's definitely something to mention as it can be a source of frustration if you don't realize it's there :)

Thanks for the 10 year old guide, Ian. Was just looking for this as part of unmounting my Fuel for surgery!
