Personal Iris power supply fuses

Unread postby necron2600 » Sat Mar 24, 2018 1:38 pm

From here:
http://www.sgistuff.net/hardware/systems/personal.html
"One fuse is on the small daughtercard, the other is next to that card and usually covered with a blue plastic cap"

Does anyone know the part#/model of fuses to use? Maybe somewhere to buy them online?

Thanks

Well one fuse is rated 250V 10A and be found on Digikey as 507-1256-ND. the other is rated 6A 250V and can also be found in Digikey as 283-2636-ND.

I have to ask though. What the heck happened to cause both fuses to blow?

Thanks Pentium! Great help.

After testing, only the top (daughterboard) fuse blew. In my hacky attempt to troubleshoot a DOA powersupply, I shorted the power switch with a paperclip (thinking maybe the switch was faulty) and it touched the metal case and sparked. Case was empty, except for the powersupply, but it blew the daughterboard fuse.

I am at a loss as to why this powersupply does absolutely nothing. No buzz, no whine, no power. Basic multimeter testing shows 120v power comes in and passes those fuses (even if I jump them). Powersupply is dead, but components look cosmetically good. That’s about as far as my electronic skills get me ;)

Wish there was a way to package the powersupply, ship it to someone.. and get it fixed.

I seem to recall those power supplies failing was a thing for many years. There are procedures to substitute an ATX power supply. I recapped mine back in 2006 or 2007.
