How to add Fluxbox to AIX's dtlogin

Unread postby ilukeberry » Thu Sep 29, 2011 8:55 am

Hi

I am trying to add Fluxbox to AIX's dtlogin, and none of stuff i read on internet work. There is a lot of howtos how to do that, but all of them are for Solaris and it doesn't work on AIX's dtlogin. :?

Any clue how to add non-cde window manager to dtlogin on AIX? :(

Nah - you've got it all wrong. You mount it on the back of a DeLorean's passenger compartment to hold the flux capacitor. To use on a computer you have to be able to get the machine up to 88.5 GFLOPS.

On a more serious note, CDE is CDE and one of the benefits is that it's common. Have you tried http://www.wuug.org/read.php?6,4,4 ?

That instructions are for Solaris, yes I've tried that and it doesn't work, the option Fluxbox doesn't show up at dtlogin Option --> Session.

Look at these two- my guess (though my AIX box is in a different location, as well as being much older than yours) is that you need to modify the Xconfig file and resources to offer another option, such as

Code: Select all

Dtlogin*fluxbox
Xfluxbox

and then make a "Xfluxbox" file using Xsession as a template. There's probably another resource you'll need to modify to get it in the menu, so perhaps a "grep Xsession" or "grep Xfailsafe" to see what else references those.
