HP Keyboard question...

Unread postby Kellym » Wed Aug 24, 2005 10:13 am

Before my lunch break is over I have a quick question.

I picked up an HP 9000 C180 and am going to set it up as one of my linux servers for running mirror backups.

I powered it on and it boots fine but the keyboard I'm using does nothing, we've tried three different ones.

Is the RISC based HP not compatible with a PC PS/2 keyboard & mouse?

It's my understanding that PS/2 KB/mouse should work.
I had the KB from a C360 working fine on an O2 and an Octane... did you tried SGI KB too on the C180?

On some HP's (like the 712 I own) there's a fuse on the board which blows if too much current is drawn through the PS2 connector. That might be the problem. Won't be easy to fix, though...

I have an old RISC pc and the keyboard was dead, as it seemed. But then we measured the voltages, and the keyboard just didn't get any. So a 5 volt line from the internal PSU to the keyboard did the trick.
