ATAPI CD-ROM cable in J6700

Unread postby tjormola » Mon Jun 25, 2007 7:08 am

Does anyone know what's the connector used to connect the slim-line CD-ROM drive in HP Visualize J6700? Below you'll find a couple of pictures of the cable I found inside my machine. The J6700 handbook I found from the HP website only refer the original drive as "ATAPI Slim-line CD Drive" which isn't that verbose. If possible, I'd like to install a regular laptop CD-ROM drive instead of buying $150+ original refurbished spare part. The drive I bought (Samsung SN-C242C) fits perfectly the slot but the socket in the drive is too small for this connector. Perhaps there are suitable adapters? Thanks.

It looks like this is a cable for the laptop device.
Hp/Compaq is using a normal cable that connect to an "adapter" that give a "smart media bay"...
This is what they do with dl servers. And this one look the same.
