Seems like Sun are going to release all the code behind (verilog etc.) for the Niagra (Ultra Sparc T1) processor over the next while:

cool, now i can use my open source simulator, synthesis, and backend design tools to ... what was my allowance again?

Awh well it's interesting from mostly a research point of view, nice way to teach about chip design in univeristy etc i bet. Well that and you might see companies in the embedded space taking an interest.

it is interesting to look at. but having written hardware in verilog for ASIC's for too many years; i certainly won't be spending my time on it :)
