I have one: the cheapest setup - 1.8GHz CPU, 512MB RAM, 80GB SATA disk, onboard graphics. It isn't bad - Opteron CPU, motherboard from Tyan etc.

It is really very fast and stable (and it looks very well - but, of course, not as well as SGI machines ;-) ) but it's a PeeCee :-(

But Solaris 10 + development tools (Sun Studio 10 and so) are of course included :-)

So if you need good, fast and stable (and relatively quiet) PeeCee with Solaris or Linux, it's machine for you. But it isn't a real workstation :-(

BTW, it only have the USB2 and FireWire ports. There are no serial, parallel or PS/2 ports. So my favorite SGI granite keyboard doesn't work with my Ultra 20 :-( (I of course have tried an USB-PS/2 adaptor but it's too unreliable...).

You should update to Studio11, came out a few days ago, and it's free :)

To me, the best thing came with the U20 is the 3 years next day on site warranty!
The Studio 10 and Java IDEs was a sweet bundle but now they are all free and since I don't know crap about Java and I bought the Studio 10 under EDU discount before I got the U20.
