Solaris 8 Login Loop

Unread postby 87Porsche » Mon Jul 11, 2005 8:43 am

I've got a new SunFire V120 here at work that I seemed to have fouled up somehow. (First time using Solaris)

When I login as root with either CDE or OpenWindows, the login screen disappears and goes to the Solaris welcome screen, and then jumps back to the login screen again. It's just a continuous loop no matter how many times I login. I can do a failsafe and get a root prompt, or an 'ok' prompt if that helps in fixing this.

I found a few Google posts about this, but the suggestions were pretty vague.

Thanks.

Well I seem to have destroyed it even more.

I ended up just wiping the whole thing clean and installing Solaris 9, and am downloading Solaris 10. Thanks for the help.
