Blade 1000 and xvr-1000

Unread postby LoWeN » Mon Feb 23, 2009 5:55 am

I am having a serious issue to setup the following config :
I have a blade 1000 and I would like to make it work with an xvr-1000 + latest solaris 10/08.

I have freshly installed the latest solaris on using a netboot.
I have manually installed all the SUNWgfb* packages.

But after memory initialization I have : No framebuffer memory detected.
During the boot I receive an error that no driver can be found for hardware installed at ..., upa which is the slot of my xvr-1000.
I can see it in the prtconf as an upa device instance #0 but with no driver attached to it.

I have already reboot -- -r.

But still no luck.

But I can get an elite3d working on both upa slots.

I am really starting to wonder if my xvr-1000 is not toasted...

Yeah, it sounds fried to me, too. Do you get any output from the card at all?

If no, it's probably fried. If yes, consider installing the OS with the 'full distribution plus OEM' option, which eats a ton of space, but installs all the drivers that don't butt heads, even if you don't need 'em.

I've got the same problem on a Blade 2000. Eventually got some output by finding and attaching a 13W3 screen, but getting the same issues mentioned above. How do I check for the presence of the drivers?

"fbconfig -list" only shows /dev/fbs/ifb0 - not configurable, no mention of gfb. Again, detected by prtdiag, but it seems as though it's not got a driver. Solaris was downloaded from Sun the other day, nothing else been done to the system.

Return to “Sun”
