Unread postby mnorton » Sun Mar 16, 2008 10:05 am

hi,

1. Is there a giu wrapper for mplayer available (via neko bins)?

2. Is there a plugin available for (neko) firefox to run M$ media in the browser? QT media?

thanks.

If you open your eyes you'll find gmplayer in the neko_mplayer package. By default only mplayer is installed.

is that a recent change or just not exactly obvious? ;)
anyway i use an icon for mplayer on the desktop and drag my video files over it, don't even bother with gui's anymore, all i have is preferences set in the config file. works fine for me on irix, windows and osx this way.

but yeah, typing in all that cryptic shebang just to watch a video in mplayer is a little much. ;)
alternatively you could create aliases for different startup options of mplayer... ahh the possibilities!

One of the truly great features of the workplace shell ... everything is an object. Duplicate the object, change its parameters. (By dragging the sucker onto the desktop then filling out the blanks in a tabbed notebook.) Viola, a fresh aspect of said object.

Stunning in its simplicity, unparalleled in power, beautiful in action. And kicked into the gutter so that we could enjoy the "modern" Vista desktop which requires a 3.4 ghz processor to list a directory. Life is grand.

This is what I've been using for a while:

Code: Select all

alias mpl   'mplayer -vo gl2 -vf format=RGB24 -ao sgi -osdlevel 0'
alias mplf  'mplayer -vo gl2 -vf format=RGB24 -ao sgi -osdlevel 0 -fs'

Not looked at the GUI at all yet, or any of the other options.

Ian.
