Inidgo 2 and Quake 2

Unread postby mnorton » Fri Mar 07, 2008 3:56 pm

I am trying to resovle a very important Friday afternoon issue. Quake 2!
I downloaded the file, sgiquake2.v3.20.tar.bz2, I believe from ftp nekoware games directory.
I downloaded the supporting files (Quake2 demo) from id.

Installed it all and executed both ./RUN and ./quake2

The problem is the game executes in a tiny window at the upper left corner of my display. It works completely.
But the video is tiny. Looks great -but tiny. I tried changing the game video options for different resolutions. No good.
The driver is running in software more. GL mode causes a segmentation fault.
Indigo 2 HighImpact, 6.5.22m.

Any ideas? Try a different Quake 2 tar?

I have a file in /usr/local/games/quake2 called q2 which contains:

Code: Select all

# for systems that don't have and/or
setenv LD_LIBRARYN32_PATH /usr/lib32:irix

cd /usr/local/games/quake2
./quake2 $*

The relevant directory is included in the path definition, so to start I just enter q2 in a shell.

On first run, press Escape, use the menu to change the video settings to 'default OpenGL',
select the screen resolution/refresh you want and select Apply. That's it. Go back, start
a game, enjoy.

Btw, I have performance results on my site for both Quake1 and Quake2, with
software and hardware rendering results included.

I'm working on a charitable PC build for the Learn Engineering YouTube channel. Please PM/email/call if you'd like to contribute!
Donations of any kind of item I can sell to provide funds are also most welcome.
