I'm not a musician by profession but I'd like to play now and then. Have been using Lilypond for music typesetting which is... just like programming ;)

Thanks Sherk,
I was looking for something to play with along the lines of audio/music.
Once I have everything squared away on the Octane I will definiately play with this :-)

Well, I plan to start a band soon and I would love to put my SGI´s to use when working with music. Plan to use an Octane with DAT to do recording and probably some nice visual effects when going live.
Something that I have searched for is a sequencer for IRIX. There is one called Rosegarden, but everyone I talked to told me to tay clear from that program. -Is there a nice sequencer for IRIX? I haven´t searched the Open Software shelves for a program to compile under IRIX, but I presume there has to be one.

It would be nice to have a rock solid sequencer when playing live. Stability is *very* important then.
