Just upgraded, looks to be running fine.
Thanks a lot for being so reactive with security updates !

Uploaded neko_bind-9.6.1-P1.tardist to /beta. Update addresses CVE-2009-0696

That's absolutely awesome, neko! Thanks a million for keeping on top of this! I installed it on one of our nameservers and it seems to be allright so far. Just a remark:
We run our nameservers chrooted, and this version complained about a missing /dev/poll. So I created a /dev/poll in the named jail ( ~named/dev in our case ) with:
mknod poll c 138 0
I found the majornumber of /dev/poll in /usr/include/sys/major.h. It's seems to be ok, but if any of you have better knowledge of this, I'd be glad to hear.
Anyway, I'll let the patched named run for awhile, and if everything is ok, I'll install it on our other nameservers.
Thanks again!
Best,

gerard

Excellent, glad it's working for everyone!

I'm using it myself and everything seems good so far; I'll give it another day and push it to /current.

Added the following to /beta:

neko_thunderbird-2.0.0.23.tardist
neko_firefox-2.0.0.22pre_sept2009.tardist
neko_seamonkey-1.1.18.tardist

The Firefox build is a CVS pull of the MOZILLA_1_8_BRANCH code, and contains the same security and bug fixes as the latest Seamonkey and Thunderbird versions.

It's up and running on the IRIX box du jour <an Onyx 350 IP>:

I ran the new FF beta through a fair number of bookmarks, except for those features that have been previously documented as not being FF/IRIX friendly, I haven't seen any issues.

The Octane is down for it's quarterly dust-out maintenance. As soon as it's back up I'll give the new SM a spin.

Thunderbird cant be used for webbrowsing and with FF2 its hard to send and recive E-Mail, so your question doesnt make any sence :P

While I prefer the Firefox user interface, it's been my experience that Seamonkey gives better overall performance on single processor boxes. There's a brief explanation of my reasoning in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=16719853&p=7290783&#p7290783

Still looking for feedback on whether these new packages are good to go and can be moved to /current :)

I'd recommend moving neko_firefox-2.0.0.22pre_sept2009.tardist to /current. I haven't had the opportunity to reassembled the SM/TB box, but will do so and test them asap.

I appreciate that :) Hopefully we have more than one user though (especially after that plea in SGI: Security) or it's rapidly getting to the point where it's no longer worthwhile to port. Spent six hours of my Friday on these :/

Hey there, guys!
...could anyone contribute with some useful insight about neko_evolution-2.4.2.1.tardist?

I mean, am I the only one having this problem, or is it a long data issue? Thanks in advance,
Diego

Just dropped the ff in late last night, haven't had a chance to do the eight-windows, twelve tabs each test. So far nothing obvious tho.

Gack. Thank you tho :D
