Re: MPlayer won't compile
I've taken a break from this port as it's aggravating me at every turn. A Dual 600MhZ Octane 2 should be able to play 720p video fine, theoretically. But MPlayer's SMP stuff on MIPS is next to non-existent. At least what I've found so far poking in the source code. foetz would know better than I. It also depends on the codec. Like x264 playback on IRIX is rather pitiful regardless of the machine. The x264 codec doesn't really make use of multimedia features of MIPS (ie; MDMX) like it does on other architectures such as POWER's Altivec or x86's MMX. So it all has to be done in software.

Time to break out the assembly code!
Or ask Axatax_, I know he was working on Mplayer at one point!

I am probably posting from yangxiaolong, HP Z230 with Xeon E3-1230v3, 16GB RAM, GeForce 750ti, and running NetBSD and Windows 8.1 Embedded.

It angered me >:( so I'm taking a breather from it and porting Python 2.7.14...which is going better than MPlayer. That way I can get the latest youtube-dl.
