Code: Select all

IRIS 2# usr/gfx/gxinfo
Graphics board 0 is "NG1" graphics.
        Managed (":0.0") 1280x1024
        8 bitplanes, NG1 revision 3, REX3 revision B, VC2 revision A
        MC revision C, xmap9 revision A, cmap revision C, bt445 revision A
        Display 1280x1024 @ 72Hz, monitor id 11

The IndyCam reacts realtime-ish and the video image looks great despite being only 256 colors.

I installed IRIX 6.5, which took 2 hours to install and 5 minutes to boot.

Then I installed IRIX 5.3, which took 20 minutes and 1 minute to boot. IRIX 5.3 FTW. Everything runs fast and opens quick. Not missing that 2nd level cache that much.

But then 8bit GFX, OH GOD WHY SGI ?? Why not at least 32768/15bit? 8bit GFX is ugly as hell. This thing needs 24-bit XL.
