Indigo, R4K 50 Mhz, 32Mb, LG1 graphics

Unread postby twix » Sat Aug 27, 2016 4:57 am

Finally managed to boot up my R4k and do a hinv. The graphics are really XS/GR2/030-8058-007, but I currently do not have the correct cables to attach the board to a monitor, so I used a LG1 board.

Its a modest R4K, only 50 Mhz and 32 Mbytes of memory. The installation on the hard-disk will have to be replaced, because it seems to be set up to boot/load stuff of the network it was once attached to.

Congratulations on a working R4K Indigo :)

Actually the clock speed listed in the PROM hinv lists the external processor bus speed. Internally the R4000 CPU doubles this clock speed so it runs at 100 MHz

Jan-Jaap has posted a small explanation about the difference of the CPU clock speed in the PROM and in IRIX: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=16727954#p7362578

Thanks for the info. Still, it looks that some more memory would help. I might have some lying around .....
