Notes:
- Looks like one 512MB bank of memory is not being recognized properly, will need to investigate.
- I replaced 8 of the fans in the fan tray with quieter ones (with proper CFM though) so the system is quiet enough for actual deskside use.
- The InfiniteReality 2E is not a proper 2E; the raster manager boards are RM7, not RM9.
- The "mirrors" demo runs smoothly full-screen across two 1920x1080 monitors.

It was pretty loud; one of the fans wasn't turning, forcing all the other fans into high speed mode; some of the other fans were making rattling noises, on top of the sound of a large vacuum cleaner sitting next to you.

I've replaced all but one of the fans with much quieter ones (37 dBa vs 54 dBa at the same amount of airflow); I initially planned to replace all of them, but the tach signal from the new fans is incompatible with that of the old fans (looks like the original fans were a custom job from NMB, the part number indicates a non-standard tach signal). So, I kept one of the original fans in there, and wired its tach output to each of the tach inputs on the system, keeping the MSC happy (and not shutting down the system as it did when I had all the fans replaced.

It's still a little loud, but bearable, think air conditioner in the same room.

I take that back; I've just turned on the A/C, I can't hear the Onyx at all anymore, so it's a lot less loud than the A/C.

I do have. I bought this thing brand new two years ago for 300 euro. =))))
So I have all the packaging, manuals, and it looks flawless (I just made a tiny scratch on the case hitting it with my G5).

But it's still too loud for my taste, specially next to the G5 or my 2011 Mac Mini. I feel tired if I sit next to it for hours.

But the noise cancelling headphones do miracle.
