Thanks to Dexter1, I have managed to get a complete Indigo R3K system up and running:

Congratulations twix! That's a very nice Indigo1 R3K with 80MB of memory installed.

And thanks for dropping by at my office, always good to see other SGI enthusiasts
With the AUI-Ethernet transceiver it is possible to install the Indigo across the net. Since you have other IRIX machines which can act as IRIX install server, this should be the most comfortable way of re-installing IRIX on your Indigo. I'll explain later how to do that properly.

And I have two! The other one is a R4400/150 with GR2 graphics. Needs a new battery. I'll probably try to resurrect both. The drives are original and enormous. It is probably a good idea to replace them first before re-installing Irix.

I love the Indigo..

Nice one chap. There is a video input card available I have been looking at, but it seems to be an add on for base graphics. Card accepts S-Video etc..

Congratulations twix!

I'm sure you'll have some fun with that. I knew a great guy who gave me my first SGI and it was such a wonderful thing! :-)

I originally had the R4K with Entry graphics and the extra capture hardware but I could never find any programs that would support it or otherwise get it to do anything so I swapped it for an XZ board.
Eventually I got a R4400 CPU for it but it kept powering itself off after a few minutes after I did the upgrade. Hopefully I'll get some time to fix it up soon as I loved that machine and it made for a great X Server.

Posting after what seems like years, just to welcome another Indigo owner! Looks like a great machine you have there, twix. Congrats!

It took me a year to find a mouse and another to find the correct keyboard! I also blew up the first PSU :( :( :(

Just a note re Indigo PSUs: the R3K Indigo used a 210W PSU, the R4K Indigo used a 250W PSU, for the obvious reasons - the R4K CPU/chipset/board is considerably more power-hungry than the (heatsinkless) R3000/board.

And yes, you can fit an Indigo R4K PSU into an Indigo R3K machine - apart from the max power-ratings per rail, they are compatible (same pinout, same enclusure).

Luckily, I have a working 250W power supply. It was the R3K 210W PSU that I blew up.
