At last, after 12 months, operational:

Rebuild of fan tray, new IO6G Dallas memory write, replace complete faulty graphics set, upgrade processors and memory.

Thanks. Noise wise, there is a tray of 9 fans, which run at low or high speed. I have mine running at high speed all the time. At low speed probably similar to an octane (guessing a bit as mine are not in the same room). Because it is a floor stander probably not as close to your ears. At high speed has a very pleasing roar, I love it, but would probably be too much unless you were a fan (no pun intended) of big computing!

Cheers, Adam

It looks really good. Looking at the lights on the MSC you've discovered 'fastfan' already ;)

To accentuate the special identity of the IRIS 4D/70, Silicon Graphics' designers selected a new color palette. The machine's coating blends dark grey, raspberry and beige colors into a pleasing harmony. (IRIS 4D/70 Superworkstation Technical Report)

Beautiful system, those really are my favorite. Well done.
If the thing isn't on fire it's a software problem.
