Congratulations on your purple box! Looks like an Internal CDROM, those trays were rare.

I think it's an aftermarket CDROM drive, they shipped with Toshiba XM-3501B units. The Archive CTD-8000 DDS2 were stock.
Let the forum know if you have success with audio DAT transfers. I found that the DATplayer software really liked to hang.

Nice little system! I've always loved the purple Indigo 2s. One of the more bomb-proof systems that SGI made.
Systems in use:
:Indigo2IMP: - Nitrogen: R10000 195MHz CPU, 384MB RAM, SolidIMPACT Graphics, 36GB 15k HDD & 300GB 10k HDD, 100Mb/s NIC, New/quiet fans, IRIX 6.5.22
:Fuel: - Lithium: R14000 600MHz CPU, 4GB RAM, V10 Graphics, 72GB 15k HDD & 300GB 10k HDD, 1Gb/s NIC, New/quiet fans, IRIX 6.5.30
Other system in storage: :O2: R5000 200MHz, 224MB RAM, 72GB 15k HDD, PSU fan mod, IRIX 6.5.30

It is; the Plextor 12X drives are settable to 512 byte sectors, and I happened to have fifty or so at the time.... I'm not sure how many I have right now.

It did come from the seller with a Toshiba drive, but it was broken, and I had the Plextor drives......

Thanks for the notice. I have the DATgoodies tarball, but haven't built them yet (I did grab the tardist of DATgoodies from somewhere else, but I've always been one to build things myself if possible). And while there is software for Linux and other u*ix variants out there, it is rumored to be less stable than the SGI stuff was, so for now it will be DATman. I also have an O2 that I'm getting up to 6.5.22 also, but it will have to be an external.

I will definitely follow up on the DAT transfers once I get some more round toits to get things set up properly.....
