Onyx 350 IP 4x600Mhz & 4x700MHz, 3Gb

This is another system I've been trying to get my hands on...not sure why, I can't stand Origin 350's. I guess the only logical reason is because I have rack space to spare, but not floor space for a deskside system. This one has an interesting story....it appears to be an engineering model (labeled as such) and originally had a lot of odd behaviors but is now working quite nicely. List of issues included env monitoring turned off, probably because of fan and power issues that would cause the brick to power itself down. Power issues were due to a bad HD (dang, no poking around the old root disk) and fan issues were simply fan's not plugged in. The one REALLY odd thing is that when I originally booted it up the PROM splash said "SGI Visual Workstation", but the l1 confirmed that it was a chimera blade. I'm kicking myself for not taking a picture because after re-flashing the PROM it now shows the expected "SGI Onyx Infinite Pefformance". *shurg* Anyone else see a Chimera blade display "Visual Workstation" before?

Also added another O350 brick to it just for kicks...

might have been a test prom without updated text. cosmetics like that are usually ignored by engr. versions as they don't matter

Congratulations! That's a very interesting system.

Because of it's unique engineering sample status, you might consider including the output of some of the L1 commands that could reveal differences between your system and production versions. Perhaps serial all, env, flash status, pci and topology -t (feel free to ad-lib at will).

In any case, thanks for sharing.
