Very nice! With IR4 graphics/2GB of texture memory and eight 800MHz IP35 processors in a single rack it would easily qualify as my idea of the ultimate Silicon Graphics system for residential use.

If you have the OEM cables that from from the "TMDS Video Output" ports on the DG5/TVO (in the G-Brick) to the matching ports on the VBoB, and those cables happen to be labeled with an SGI part number, could you post those part numbers?

The freight cost was considerably more than the purchase price not to mention that I had shipping crates on skids made especially for the racks. As I am sure you have all experienced the careful carrying capabilities of your local freight company who's motto may not live up to the condition your new acquisition arrives in (as the doors have those blue clip-on plastic panels, I could just imagine them smashed to pieces if the rack wasn't wrapped in bubble wrap and crated)!

Hi recondas
Very nice! With IR4 graphics/2GB of texture memory and eight 800MHz IP35 processors in a single rack it would easily qualify as my idea of the ultimate Silicon Graphics system for residential use.

I thought about taking the other 2 RM11 boards out of the spare gbrick and either installing them in pipe '0' to make 4 or consolidating all the boards from the spare gbrick to make a pipe '1'. Not sure what the value of this would be considering there is only me to use it!
Agreed lots of horsepower but I don't actually have an application for the system so on that point, as a fellow IR system user, what do you actually use yours for? Do you have a particular application(s) you use that require the graphics system?
I have a quad 700 Tezro with 8Gb I generally toy with as its compact compared to the O350 rack (and a lot quieter) but if I hadn't bought these racks they would be at either the local metal recycler or the tip!

If you have the OEM cables that from from the "TMDS Video Output" ports on the DG5/TVO (in the G-Brick) to the matching ports on the VBoB, and those cables happen to be labeled with an SGI part number, could you post those part numbers?

Here are the part numbers of the cables. Note that I checked both sets on the two racks I have here as well as the set from the Tezro and all three sets have the same part number detail on the label as follows;
'White' Cable: 018-0985-001 Rev B 03.42 UFI Code: 2134
'Black' Cable: 018-0946-001 Rev B 04.03 UFI Code: 2134

There's two GB installed (1GB per RM11), but in an IR system this does not result in 2GB of usable texture memory.

Framebuffer memory adds up, and the resulting bigger total amount means more features, or higher bit depth at a given resolution. An RM11 has 2.5GB of frame buffer memory (up from 80MB in RM10), but IIRC the 300MB/s fill rate limit still applies so I'm not sure what's the purpose of this -- not higher display resolutions I think.
Texture memory does not add up, it is used in parallel. So with multiple RMs you get higher fill rates.

Still pretty awesome. Congratulations on an impressive score!

only if you own a pair of noise canceling headphones.

As a side note: I've used generic high quality dual link DVI cables to wire my Onyx2 TVO option to a DMedia breakout w./ DM5 in the past. I'm pretty sure the DM5 showed up in the Onyx, but can't remember if I ever attached a HD-SDI monitor to look at the output signal. These are the same cables and VBOB I use with the Tezro normally. I think you have to flash something if you move a VBOB between an IR and a VPro system.

I missed the mark with the last reply and inadvertently gave you the P/N's for the LVDS cables NOT the TMDS cables so take 2!

Hi Jan-jaap,
my Onyx2 TVO option to a DMedia breakout w./ DM5 in the past

So what do you use your system for? Sounds like you are geared up for video work?
