Gunbuster "Toppu o Nerae"

Unread postby Shtoink » Mon Feb 03, 2003 9:04 am

I fianlly got an avitar. One of one of my all time favorites, Gunbuster! I'd like to know if anyone else has seen this one, becuase it's definately one of the best stories I had ever seen. I won't ruin the ending for anyone, but the preise is the near future and there is an evel race of very large space creatures destroying large suns heading our direction. They have to make a super advanced mechanoid to handle the job and send it in to action.

There is alot of stuff in there about near light speed travel and lots of very cool stuff that comes into play. It's entertaining and you get science lessons in between the episodes.

Now that I proved what kind of geek i am, I'm gonna reveal what a sissy i am as well. Wel, maybe not... The story is very moving and I very nearly cried at the end. No other movie has done that for me. Some have come close, though.

It's moving, it's awsome, it's highly recomended by me... 6 episodes of mech fighting, alien butt kickins, and science lessons. You can't loose. :D

That reminds me... I'm gonna have to get a copy of the OAVs on DVD now. I had copies of them on VHS back in the day, but now I own nothing that plays tapes of any kind. Wait nothing except a DDS2...

I think your avatars are beautiful! I was thinking of creating an avatar from my favourite manga artist Masamune Shirow. But there are so many to choose from, and it's hard to come up with something pretty and small and useful, so i just used the current sgi icon at work to go with my nick.
I am planning to use an avatar related to Shirow; the old anime "Black Magic M66" to be exact (1987). I have the video, and an avatar of Sybel or even the M66 droid would be cool. Not too good a movie tho, but the camp feeling survives when watching that one...

I actually changed my avatar since I posted the above. The character I have now is from .hack//SIGN ... actually an avatar in itself. Sounds strange, but the anime is very interesting to say the least :)

I remember when the Black Magic M-66 video came out ... well I think I first saw it in 1988. It's not bad considering how short it is :)

Very cool ... the two cons I go to every year are http://www.fanime.com and http://www.anime-expo.org

Fanime is great since it's practically next door ... I can actually sleep at home and drive to the con each morning. AX requires a hotel room of some kind.

I usually go to Otakon and Katsucon. I missed the last Katsucon because of the incredible sudden snow fall we got that was very unlike maryland/virginia weather...

I'll probibly setup an avatar from Evangelion perhaps. It's my fave anyway.

hehehe

Yeah, especially since my avitar is currently the invulnerable idiot Tick, that's one guy who really seems out of place here.

In the near future i will be back with more Sybel avatars.
It's just a bit scarce getting material for her, since i do not yet have the DVD/DivX from Black Magic M66, although i just bought an A/V module so i could transfer my M66 VHS on My O2...

But then, Megumi is cute as well, having her lunch... :)
