Suggestions for something new to watch....

Unread postby jimmer » Sat Dec 15, 2007 11:52 am

Hi All,

I'm looking for new anime series to get into... I particularly liked Crest of the Stars and Battle of the Stars, R. Kenshin, Lain and Full Metal Alchemist. Any suggestions?

Well if you don't mind fansubs, Rocket Girls looks entertaining. I've haven't watched it yet, but I found this animated GIF amusing :)

Doesn't DC use reverse polish calculation?

Yep, dc is RPN. Haven't used it, though I've used bc on occasion (for scripts).

Cowboy Bebop and the movie for it, Hellsing, and Love Hina. Others, Desert Punk, and Princess Mononoke. Yes I know I spelled it wrong.

I watched up to episode 8 over the weekend. It's not bad, but it seems like it would have made a better movie than a series - they're stretching things a bit long ;)

Full metal panic, then full metal panic FUMOFU.. I really enjoyed the bit about the teddy bear armed with grenades, guns, rocket launchers, and the angry traffic cop..

GTO was OK, and InitialD if you like cars..

The ending of Cowboy Bebop was kinda drawn out and a little boring.

Thanks for the suggestions so far... Tried Rocket Girls but it didn;t really grab me... I've started watching something called Zettai Shonen - not too bad, if a little slow to develop.
In fact I'm quite surprised that they got the girl into the space in Ep 6.
But the overall flow is quite interesting IMO. :)

Finished watching Zettai Shonen. 26 eps. of semi-philosophical 'rite of passage' fan-subbed storytelling. OK for the most part, with a few fun bits and sometimes interesting dialog. Had to use the FF button just a little too much though for it to be considered a 'classic'. I give it 3.5 out of 5 on 'JARS' - Jimmers Anime Rating Scale.

:)

Yup - and then after that they still manage to drag in at least one more girl into the program when it seemed like it should be about over :) The other thing I can't figure is why they ignore the girl in the Chinese restaurant when she's right there next to the space center the whole time.

Because the series is about sending "koukosei" into space? :P

Yeah, I thought about that - but the officials certainly didn't think twice about signing on her half sister even before they knew she was half Japanese ;)
