Does anyone have physical sets of guides for Softimage|3D 4.0? Building a machine to run this bad boy after 15 years.
I'm very interested if you are selling. Thanks!

Re: WTB Softimage|3D 4.0 Manuals
I can't help, but are you requiring those books in particular to learn to use?
Reason I ask.. Inside SOFTIMAGE 3D by Anthony Rossano is a good book. Seems to be the recommended read and still easily available.

To have as an offline reference in sync with the version I'm working with is why. I prefer physical books
Thanks!

Thanks!

Re: WTB Softimage|3D 4.0 Manuals
i'd be surprised to hear that these books actually exist for 4.0.
if i recall right, that version was an afterthought at the time - something they released to keep a handful of companies invested in SI3D happy - while they were generally pushing XSI front and center.
we had these books but they came matching with version 3.6 or 3.7 and were not replaced as far as i was aware. rather, starting with 3.8 they shipped PDF manuals. anyway, wow has it been a long time or what.

I disagree. I bought SI¦3D 4.0 back when I was working on an Octane and instead of proper manuals it came with that book. It was godawful - tons of typos, workflows copied over from 3.9 which did not match 4.0, grainy black and white photos where you could not recognize a damn thing. Stay well clear of it.

The pictures in my edition were in colour and fine, I stand by that it's a good book. Saying that, I am not in anyway a Soft Image expert.

i can't confirm that either. the book is one of the best sources you can get in addition to the included docs and i didn't have any problems using the info with v4 either.
Re: WTB Softimage|3D 4.0 Manuals
My copy of the book is hardback/image coloured, describing Softimage 3.7, I think.
Issue resolved: [Talking about this book, is there any good soul who can wetransfer-ize/ftp-ize an .iso image of the cd-rom? I bought it via ebay and the seller didn't send me the cd!
In case...thank you very much.]
