Video of early 3D Studio for DOS prototype

Unread postby SiliconClassics » Fri Jun 25, 2010 1:36 pm

This is a fun little video showing a November 1988 prototype of what would become 3D Studio for DOS. The video is narrated by Tom Hudson, one of the original developers.

And for those of us who don't have flash, here's an update to the neko_youtubedl that also includes vimeo-dl (requires neko_xclip and neko_wget). Just copy the URL, go to Toolchest/Find/WebTools and open vimeo-dl to download the video to your Desktop.

I spent hours and hours upon days and days in this app from 1992 to about 1996. I actually still miss it and occasionally fire it up from time to time. Still have my original discs and dongle. Ahh nostalgia... :)

Hehe, I also worked with 3D Studio 4 like crazy when I was a teenager. Great program :). One day, my Pentium 75 was more than 4 hours rendering a scene with 150000 faces :D. The video is really nice.
