Anyone using Realsoft 3D on sgi? Anyone setup a render farm using this program?
Realsoft still supports IRIX.

I have very little time to use it these days, but I help Realsoft maintain the IRIX port.
Currently working on getting v6 ported to IRIX. I can't provide an ETA for the release though.

Regards,

Nik.

Yea, they keep saying in the next few weeks, or iminient, and that was at least a month ago.

The main things needed in version 6 are speed and easier camera placemant and control more intuitive - like C4D

It is a great program, and capable of many neat effects. VSL shader

Thanks for they reply

Almost a year and realsoft 3D for Irix not upgraded as promised. I think they are letting it die off.

Unfortunately, that seems to be true :(

Still, I've been considering buying a copy of Realsoft - anyone know if you still get the Linux version free with the IRIX version? If I bought v5 for IRIX, would I get v5 or v6 for Linux??

Even at student prices, though, Realsoft + manuals + .ai plugin + IGES exporter adds up to a pretty tidy (although still very reasonable) sum. Better start saving...

The other factor is the currency conversion makes it about twice as expensive last time I checked.

They wanted $300.00 to covert from sgi to windows.
