Sure, you mean on this particular blend?

Cause I've done some tweaking on the same blend I gave you and here's the result:

This render took 6 minutes using YafRay as the render engine.

In the late 90' i have played with kinetix 3D Studio Max (on windows). For this product a plugin exisits which creates a SGI Logo as a mesh in seconds.

Goolge lists "SGI Logo v4.0" http://www.cadalyst.net/extras/plugins/MaxObject/Max5/Sgilogo4.zip

The SGI logo is also available as WRL, although I cannot remember which repository it's in, and is included in .ay format in the current version of Ayam, and can easily be exported to RIB, OBJ or DXF.

Ironically I was working on a scene including the SGI logo, in Ayam, before the current version was released and had imported SGI's NURB WRL in Blender to export as OBJ.
