Introduction - new Nekochan user in Netherlands

Unread postby Hombre71 » Wed Sep 14, 2016 5:41 am

Hi everyone,

Just a quick note to introduce myself, my name is JP, based in the The Netherlands.
I used to own and Indy and an Indigo 1. Recently I bought an O2 off the local Ebay (Marktplaats)
and I have become more active with SGI machines once again.

Since I was last active it seems some big buyers bought a lot of stock and there are a lot of machines that are being
stripped and sold for parts for often ridiculous prices. I look forwarded to connecting with this community to be able
to enjoy my hobby without breaking the bank where possible :)

Anyway, I dealt with a nice chap and now I own an R5K O2 @ 180mhz, 256 megs ram with FP display
adapter and an 1600sw, both in good shape. Along with that came a machine for parts, missing some bits
and with what appears to be not working memory. I already replaced the fan in one of the PSU's for a
quiet Noctua one. I also have a Toshiba dvd off Ebay ready to be mounted. IRIX 6.5.30 installed and have
been downloading Nekoware ready to play around with that.

With regards to tinkering, what has a bigger impact on the reponsiveness of the O2, more ram or the CPU?

Thanks!
JP

Welcome indeed..

So quick story that happened this week.
I'm set up to have a meeting with a guy from Holland.
I take my PA (sometimes she is my PA, other times she does other things, so I don't own her 100% of the time) to take notes.

She : (bless her).. so is [Von] Hollish?
Me: Do you mean Amish ?
She: No Hollish like Polish?

Silence................

She does take notes well though.

Due to British law (at least anyway), the consistent taking pictures of your staff would probably lead me into deep sh!te..

WELCOME! I'm J.P. too! But I'm not Dutch. Though I do like Dutch chocolate. I used to make black bottom cupcakes with Droste cocoa, but the stores around here stopped carrying it and all I can find usually is Hershey's.

I really enjoy the O2 with a 1600SW.
