Hello everyone, just found you and wanted to say hi

Unread postby torradan » Sat Jun 25, 2016 2:02 pm

Hey everyone,

I decided it was time to dust off my Indy and get it up and running. Has a 4.3GB hard drive, R4600-133, 32MB ram, and XL graphics.

Missing lots of things since I moved, like my huge SGI monitor (GDM-20E21) - don't ask how I could lose something the size of a boat, as well as my serial cables and other things to at least get a console up and running.

I had 3 Indigo 2s, but I found homes for them because I didn't want to lug them around anymore. That was probably a huge mistake, but I didn't really think I'd be doing anything with them.

Ditched a bunch of Sun machines as well (2xSS20, Ultra5, Ultra1, Ultra2), but I did keep my U2E that I modified for some huge (at the time) 9GB 10k RPM drives. Nothing a dremel and a mission couldn't solve. Still have my Belkin Sun kvm adapter, so I'm in good shape there once I decide to fire it up. Keyboard/mouse seem to be MIA with the monitor, though.

Next step is to get a serial cable cobbled together and investigate the Dallas clock, and then go from there.

Anyways, I won't take up anymore of your time, just wanted to say hello!

I'll grab an hinv once I get a working serial console going. I tried to rig one up yesterday, but it wasn't working. Ordering up some cables this week, and on the look out for a sync on green monitor and associated adapters.

Will take some pics of my pile o' goodies today. Forgot I have a Sun IPC in unknown condition that I used as a monitor stand. It powers on and it did show a display, but I never did anything with it since it's so slow. Battery is probably deader than a doornail now.

Update more of my profile now too! I'm in Ajax, Ontario -- about 15 miles east of Toronto.

My stack of Sun fun. Enclosure has another 9GB 10k drive, and the other has a 40x Plextor:

Inside of the U2. No idea of the memory anymore, and dual 300Mhz CPUS. Second SCSI card, and forgot there was a PCMCIA card hiding under it:

Indy outside - needs a good cleaning along with the other stuff:

An IPC ? hmmmm you can't but love lunch box SUNS. Really wish I had more space, and I'd have my Classic and IPC down with the living.
