never under underestimate what a she-lifeguard warns you

so, I was swimming with my fins and I want to reach the three orange delimiters where you can see fishes swimming around you. Everything was good, the sun shining in the sky, and I wanted to go deeper, something like three meters under the water.

I saw a group of fishes. So beautiful that I actually wished I had a water proof camera to take some pictures. Then, I had to emerge to take new air. I emerged, and at this point something under the water tried to drop one of my fins. I reacted with a kick, and it gave me a bite, and I lost the left fin. But no pain.

No pain but I actually felt like it was inducing insensitivity to pain, like when anesthetic drugs being used. Probably the aquatic creature had injected a substance that induces insensitivity to pain. My reaction was no-panic, but I wanted to reach the shore as soon as possible and I fainted in completely blackout once the shore was reached.

Then I got medication. They called the ambulance, and I ended my day at the hospital for a check up. Everything is OK, I still do not feel my foot, but I can walk, and I am going home.

He said he's "between France and Italy" which seems to limit it to Monaco or the Côte d'Azur generally.
Searching for "venomous fish in the Ligurian Sea" doesn't turn up very much, but the lionfish has been spotted in those waters.
Coral snakes and sea snakes can be excluded as they do not live in the Mediterranean, and those wounds don't look like stingrays caused them.

Premeditated? Like "don't swim so far, unless you are looking for problems" ? Yes, the she-lifeguard warned me a lot of time. All ignored. Lesson learned: never underestimate what a lifeguard warns.

I still don't know WTF it was, but I know I was lucky it was not a shark. Talking with fishermen ... they said they have seen a few little sharks something like 300-400 meters from the shore, which is exactly the distance I was swimming at when I got the bite.

Yup. almost cured, but the doctor suggested to avoid to go for jogging and to avoid to ride my speed road bicycle, in short I can't wear shoes, until completely cured, and it's a pity, they are both good activities to enjoy vacation for me.

But I am fine.
