I once had a red Mazda Lantis - not sure if this type was ever sold in the US - and since then I like red on cars very much. After cleaning and polishing the paint it always looked like new (and I had it for nearly 10 years, the car was about 15 years old then).

And a 3000GT just looks great in red! :D

I had one of these once, a '93 Saturn SC2. Man, what a sweet ride! You don't see them around anymore. Mine ended up at the bottom of a holding pond on the I-94 bypass north of Minneapolis on a cold, snowy January morning...

I got myself a pickup truck! A pretty darned nice one too. 88,000 miles, extensive service records, no frame rot...it does have a bit of rust on the front fenders and the metal part of the front bumper but compared to most trucks here in PA from 1999 it's a real cream puff!

I had a Ford Thunderbird, 1995. Rusty, beat up, oil burning, just a tired old car. Unfortunately I still have it and my attempts to fire sale it via Craigslist haven't been fruitful so far. I was hoping to get at least $700 for it so I could upgrade my main PC...

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon isn't too bad if you need an off-roader.

Charger/Challenger are good, so long as you get the 8-speed, as well as Durango/GC, but those are all just spiced up Mercedes's (W210 and W166, respectively).

When I was working at (the other EV conversion place in town) we did a few ML450s and Jeep GC's, all the mounts were identical :P

I like the wife's challenger but the handling is decidedly very... European. But maybe I've been spoiled with my mx-5 and mazda 3 before that.

I see a lot of rust on the alfa-based Darts (Giulietta), even brand new ones on the dealer lot. I would avoid anything Fiat-based. When I initally balked at the high odometer of the challenger, the dealer tried to put us in a renegade. It had 13,000 miles and ready for the scrapyard  The challenger was past 50k miles and still felt brand new (I drove it back to back with a new charger before purchasing)

Cheap interior, poor panel fitment and overall just crap quality for a small off-road SUV. All of the AMC-based Jeeps around here that are still running have tons of rust on them and often times broke 4WD. The Chrysler ones just haven't progressed passed mid-80s in build quality. That's the biggest issue I have with Chrysler - they aren't any good compared to modern day competition unless you want a ghetto Bentley flying brick.

The chassis are the same, but everything else isn't. I've been behind the wheel of several Daimler-Chrysler era Mercedes (S and E class) and they're a lot easier to work on, in their own way, and more reliable, than what Chrysler shat out during the same period.

As for Fiat, well, Fiat used to be good in the 1970s and 1980s but Italy got hit hard in the 1990s and 2000s with the economic downturns and it has adversely affected any car brands they have owned. Lancia has been reduced to rebadging Chryslers.

My Subie is getting new tires next week. The bad part about owning a subie is that you must buy tires in sets of 4. It's annoying.

I need to move from my current radio. I upgraded the radio to a single-din from a 2003 Outback but with a wired FM transmitter it doesn't want to receive radio stations clearly, even when the transmitter is off. The radio also doesn't fit exactly right, and constantly pushes against the trim. I hate dealing with radios.

I plan to find a radio that doesn't look super cheap and gaudy that has FLAC playback support.

I bought an SF5 grill from an eBay seller in Russia, let's hope the bastard delivers as I paid a lot of money for it.

My 3000GT meanwhile I have found a manual clutch/brake pedal assembly, my challenge will be to cut a hole in the firewall to pass the clutch pushrod through and then mount the master cylinder. Then I will need to remove the automatic shifter, leaving the automatic shift cable in place while I install the manual shifter, then limp it (no reverse and hard shifts) all the way over to a local guy who says he can swap the transmissions. Give him all the parts, and gods willing I'll have a manual, FWD 3000GT that has no rust and actually drives like it should.

I've secured a radio from the period out of an Eclipse that looks correct and has an AUX cord (in 1994, no less!) and I fix the hackjob wiring performed by a chimp with as bad of wiring skills as a monkey. Then,I'll see if I can weld up the small holes in the firewall where the alarm was, repaint the firewall with some touch up paint and then it should be drivable and eventually going to be my GTO MR clone.
