The problem is the reliability, and on how to evaluate hard disk reliability, the main problem is when you can/cannot believe what you read from reviews. Of course the best method is 'try by yourself'. Sometimes it's fine in the theory, but not practical.
These barracuda B.7200.12 model I bought are the 2011 version, paid 15 euro each (less than the 50% of the price of the current version available on amazon) in large quantity, all brand news, unsold, and they are absolutely known about their reliability, because I have been testing them for a long time, and they are all still working without a problem.
On a lot of 50 hard drives, one was defective in a time windows of two years.
I don't know about modern barracuda hard drives, 2015 and 2016 versions, never used one, I know a lot of people is reporting bad news, and I know a lot of these bad news are bullshit.
BTW, 8TB is definitely too high density for me
