If you heat water to 100 degrees, it boils.
And if the sea is stormy, the waves are high.
And If I won the lottery, I would buy a car.

And If you make a mistake, someone will let you know.
(isn't what you were looking for, asking for an opinion?)

Today I cleaned the Minidisc transport in my car stereo because it got a blast of dust and stopped behaving correctly.
After that I finally checked after owning it for ten years of my satellite radio actually worked. Turns out that not only is it still "in good standing" but SiriusXM had no problems activating it, so I got satellite radio while I'm on vacation this month.

Setting up the Seinfelds (twin PowerBook Duo 2300c systems, Jerry and Kramer) and Joey, my Outbound laptop, as clients for my Vintage Computer Festival exhibit. Joey and Kramer are actually going to connect over LocalTalk; only Jerry has Ethernet (a NewerTech DuoDock). Yes, the Apple Network Server allows terminal clients over AppleTalk.

Hey Hombre,

that's really pointless and truly anachronistic, I like that!

So I guess you're running your VW320 with NT 4.0 or Windows 2k? If so, you might be interested in the pointless thing I'm doing right now: I'm coding a sleek, modern editor with syntax highlighting and decent search functions for this platform, in pure NT4-compatible Win32 code. However, I currently work completely on my Alpha, so I do not have a setup ready for x86. But this will be available in the near future! I'm the proud owner of a defunct VW320 also, and the editor is meant for it as much as for the Alpha.

So, if you need an editor as a replacement for notepad, and would like to participate, you can be my first beta tester!

Interested?

Deleted several internet accounts I don't use anymore... namely, paypal, ebay, and google.

Couldn't actually delete my ebay account for some strange reason despite not using it for several months, but I took all my personal information and bank info out and replaced with fake stuff, set the email/password to gibberish and the address to Wrigley Field (a la Blues Brothers :) )

Deleting a google account definitely qualifies as "pointless." They are still going to track everything you do and associate it with whatever was on the previous account.

Waiting for the ISP's router to get reflashed. Apparently Samsung cloned Cisco a little too well. You can finish the story.

Me too, the nightmarishly slow and ancient Teac on my Octane2 finally crapped out. I consider this an opportunity for advancement... ;)

I've just finished proving that despite what Microsoft and coincidentally Intel would like you to believe, it's perfectly possible to get Windows 7 running on a Kaby Lake NUC7 with all hardware/drivers working, and with full Windows Updates working as well.

Most of it wasn't too hard, but I did have to modify the graphics drivers before they'd install properly. To try and block Windows 7, Intel only lists the hardware ID of the IRIS graphics in the Windows 10 section of the driver inf file. But, copying the correct line into the Windows 7 section and tweaking it to match the syntax of the other lines there results in the drivers installing and working perfectly fine.

I've not actually decided exactly how I want this thing to run in the end. Part of me is considering running Linux as the primary OS with Windows Server in a VM (for seamless RDP to IRIX, and for other Windows-only apps I want to run on it), and maybe Windows 7 in another VM if necessary. However I wanted to prove to myself first of all that it was possible to get Windows 7 properly running on it first. I might of course also run Windows server in a VM from within Windows 7, should work just as well.
