Yamaha DP, it hasn't seen a key in about two years. It's pretty good if it's tuned and I can get some decent cymbals and not my personal trash can lids. That ride was $20, I thought it was lame when it was new (over 10 years ago) but now it has... sentimental value

Most of the time whoever needs me has a house kit or similar, and I can bum cymbals off a friend.

<< still considers himself a marimbist and not a drummer unless he really has to be.

It's also the first recording I've made/heard of myself in years, kinda refreshing. I should do this more often. Also note that the hifi you are hearing is not the Dayton amp previously referenced. It's a pair of Bogen monoblocks.

i used to have a slingerland and zildgians. poor thing was pink, i thought it was grey when i bought it. or maybe is really was grey. i'll never know. a sweet set i passed down to my brother after 10 years of delight.

Count me in. I started in the 6th grade and played through college. Orchestral, jazz, rock, etc. Everything but marching band... I can't stand that music. I had a 5 piece Pearl Export kit with Paiste cymbals. All I have left these days are my sticks and mallets.

I miss playing, and those electronic Roland kits are getting very tempting.

Yes, was messing around with one of those electric sets, they have come a long way. They are very responsive. Pick up all kinds of cool things, rim shots, ghost notes, etc. Although to get all that the price is pretty high...at least at Guitar Center.



Ha, your set is not complete without a gong! Its a Tama StarClassic Maple 10" 12" 14" 16" rack toms. A Pearl Brass floating snare, all Paiste Signatures with a Zildijan china and splash with bell. Octobans are pretty cool and got some roto toms in there too. I had some cheapo sets growing up and then figured I would buy one last really good set.

I've played a v-drum kit once in my life... it was an nfl halftime show in 2007 at paul brown stadium and a couple earth wind & fire charts with a marching band. I did not like the kit, but I think if I could get a good monitor mix (all I was hearing was the side of a PA and a console monkey working the levels) they would be good for some music and at the time, it was hard to be concerned with anything except getting on and off the field in time. At least, Nick Angelis liked it, so my throat was safe for another week... lol.

I need more free time so I can start playing again..

Thanks guys! Oh I never practise anything nowadays, just play So what if I got in an extra diddle on the hihat at 2.19 and hit the snare late, which forced me to flub the fill and stuck out my tongue... style! I grew up in indoor on the WGI circuit and drum corps, it's great for building chops when you're a kid but you gotta learn to have fun as well.
