I don't understand your arguments in general, as you are on a site where people who collect SGI machines share information between each other, and help one another where necessary.
If you look at the signatures of most members on this site, you will notice that they have multiple SGI machines depicted there.
Even if they don't see themselves as collectors, they are by definition, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that!
There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a collection of things that are of interest to you, so I don't understand your argument?
