Squatted house cleared

Well, nothing special about that:

Except, this one is a fortress and required the army to deploy a bridge to get the police in. And even when they were in, they had a hard time getting through the barricades. It took two days to clear the fortress.

The funny thing about this is, that I picked my origin 200 up from this place! I met the guys in there and bought the origin from one of them. Funny to see it's now cleared with brute force (more than 100 men form the police, 40 from the army). Good thing I picked the origin up before the place was cleared :) .

Pity i can't read Dutch, do squatters not have any rights after been in certain location for long period of time? I know you often here people talk of "Squatters rights" here, when such a case go before the courts

I know the police can't treat a squatter like a burglar once they bring a bed into the place (or something like that).

Yeah it's funny we actually have a squatter on our road, seems like there is a family dispute over inheritance of a house, the old woman who owned it died. So it seems like one faction moved in this hippy guy to take care of it (squat), lot better then the place been ransacked by teenage drinkers and value of property dropping etc. He even has a horse in the small orchard

Indeed i wonder what else they had, cool fort though, fair number of them old fortresses in Netherlands that's for sure. Is the fort still in state ownership? Or was it a case of a private landholder calling in the authorities to clear out teh squatters?
